Welcome to Lasting Threads Care Ltd

Lasting Threads Care is a small, family run organisation committed to providing high quality care to children who are looked after. The Company owners are passionate about delivering a service that puts children first and keeps their interests at the heart of every decision, we don’t want to be another Residential home. We just want to be home.

Established in 2019, after many setbacks and delays due to the Covid 19 pandemic our first home ‘Fletcher House’ was opened in October 2022. We are incredibly proud of our home, the children who live there and the staff team who have given everything to make the home a success. This was evidenced by our ‘Good’ in all areas grade at our first Ofsted inspection, and are maintained ‘Good’ judgement in our second inspection.

Testimonials

“When starting a new job, it can be both exciting and nerve wrecking at the same time. Any nerves I had were put at ease straight away by management and staff who are down to earth, friendly and welcoming. I was looking for a place to work where I could enhance my career and learn new skills – I have certainly found that at Lasting Threads Care! Thanks to my colleagues and management with their help I can take my career to the next level.”

I was so impressed with the home, Management and the other staff where so welcoming, it felt so homely, I didn’t feel like I was in a children’s home and you are on the ball with his health! Rooms are lovely, couldn’t speak more highly, my first impression was totally young people first.

“Fletcher House is nurturing and offers a sense of belonging for the children and staff. One of the most fulfilling aspects of my role has been watching the team come together to create a safe, loving environment for the children. The dedication and compassion my colleagues show everyday is inspiring, we truly do care and have a positive impact on our children’s lives.”

All children are making progress from their individual starting points. Children receive well- planned and individualised care from a nurturing and committed staff team. It was clear from observations that staff know the children well and carefully manage children’s individual daily routines.

“Working with Children is more than a job to me – it’s a chance to make a difference. Our staff team are fun, nuturing and caring. We inspire our children to reach their full potential and reach for the stars. Fletcher House is a home that allows children to be uique and their truest self! We want our children to look back at thier

Staff support children’s individual educational needs. Staff are ambitious for children and advocate on their behalf to ensure that they have an education placement. One child had been out of education for a significant period. The manager worked with education professionals to address this and the child is now attending school on a regular basis, where she is making progress.

Staff develop good working relationships with children’s families and those important to them. Parents and family members are updated on a regular basis and staff work in partnership with them to support children. One parent commented that her relationship with their child has significantly improved since they moved into this home.

“I love working for Fletcher house as I feel the home and businesses Ethos is what I was looking for and expect for our children. We have a great staff and management team, and we all feel like a large family. In Our family home everyone matters. We have a great team and treat our children like they are our own. We do great activities and offer great support to our children and team members, we also receive great support from other professionals.”

The staff have worked along side us at School. Staff have lovely relationships with him, staff introduce themselves to us and keep us informed with everything that happens. The Manager has a really good relationship with us in school, she wants the best for him and has been fully supportive. He is a valued child at Fletcher House, he speaks about what he has done and has good relationships with staff members and Manager. He is happy living there and calls Fletcher House his home – this is a massive breakthrough as previously the word “Home” was a trigger for him.

Staff promote children’s individual health needs. Children are supported to attend the necessary health appointments. One child has been supported to significantly improve their health. A professional said, ‘They have been amazing, they invited me in straight away to provide extensive training to staff, to support [name of child]’s health needs. It is the first time I haven’t worried about [name of child]. I am more than happy with the care they are being provided with. Their health has improved as a result.’

I feel the staff at the home, work hard to keep the child I work with safe; they communicate and encourage the child to be open and honest when we have been completing work around crime and CE. Staff have kept me updated with any incidents or concerns. Since I have been coming to the home the staff have been welcoming and great at communicating with CELLS. Both our office staff and I have great communication with all of the staff on his progress and appointments. I am confident that any concerns I raised would be taken seriously. He also informs me that he has great communication and relationships with the staff. I have witnessed that him gets great support when it comes to his education. Since living at Fletcher House he has made great progress in his attitude.

CELLS project

Staff speak to children about their care needs. As a result, children are listened to, and this helps staff provide children with individualised daily care. One child said, ‘It’s like living in a normal home but better. They care and talk to me about things.’

“I started my journey at Fletcher House in November 2022 when the home first opened. I had never worked in care before, didn’t know much about it – or if I would be any good! The support I have had off staff members and management helping me with anything I am struggling with has been amazing, I have grown in confidence, and I am now a Team Leader, I absolutely love my job and it’s the most amazing place to work”

Safeguarding is a strength of the home. Professionals say that staff go above and beyond to safeguard children. Staff have a good understanding of children’s risks and needs in respect of exploitation. The manager is a strong and assertive advocate for children who are at risk in the community. She challenges professionals to ensure that support is provided to children to keep them safe. Robust support plans are developed in partnership with external agencies and professionals. This means that there is a strong multi agency approach to keeping children safe, both in the home and the community.

I must say that I have never worked with a home that has gone above and beyond for a child like the staff at fletcher house have. You can clearly see that all of the staff care about him and generally want the best outcome for him. Staff communicate well with me and the Social Worker and have trialled different strategies in order to get the best outcome for him.

Social Care Team Manager

I have always told him that he is in one of the best homes I have been in my many years of working with children as a Looked after Children social worker. The home is clean, smart and tidy all the time. It gives the children there a homely environment. He is very happy living in Fletcher house and does not wish to be moved elsewhere. He is a very complex child but they have supported him very well and he is making very good progress. They are the best staff I have come across in my many years of social work.

Our commitment

As a small business, we understand that not only do we have the privilege to care for children but also the privilege to impact our community. We recognise that the decisions we make can leave a footprint on the children we care for, people we employee, community we are placed in and the environment.

In order to recognise our responsibility, we have created ‘our commitment statement’. This will be reviewed yearly, and we will reflect on our successes and areas where we can improve.
